A fish treatment facility exit water return unit. When treating fish in a treatment chamber, the fish is pumped from a first confined body of water into the chamber where it is treated and then into a second confined body of water. The first and the second body of water is typically confined by a net / a pen, and the treatment is typically removal of salmon lice. Some of the lice however have a tendency to fall off after the fish has exited the treatment chamber and is entrained by the water flow into the second body of water. This is clearly not favourable at it makes the treatment less effective.Previous solutions to this problem includes a grating over a bag-shapes filter of a filter cloth, allowing the fish to enter the fish pen in a dry condition. This is cumbersome and ineffective, and the bag-shaped filter must be taken on-board a vessel for cleaning and destruction of the sea lice/salmon lice.NO 340218 B1 describes a system for removing parasites on fish, especially parasites on salmon. This is achieved by transporting the fish in water or fluid, substantially horizontally and substantially oriented opposite the direction of the water current. The system comprises a main pump, at least one treatment chamber comprising at least one drainage unit for removal of fluid and at least one injection unit for injection of fluid, said at least one injection unit is situated downstream the drainage unit. The present invention is developed to alleviate this problem by circulating the water exiting the treatment chamber through a filter at a different location instead of allowing this water to flow into the second body of water. This is achieved with a return unit separating the fish and the water from an exit channel and returning the water to a filter on-board a vessel. In the following description is the term “reference water line” used to ease explaining and claiming the invention. The reference water line is a water line shown as a horizontal line in fig.2 and is a line that coincides with a sea level when the return unit of the invention is operated during design conditions. Clearly the return unit can be exposed to many situations where the operation departs from design conditions and the definition of the return unit is not dependent on the operation of the return unit or the water line at any given situation.Accordingly, the present invention concerns a fish treatment facility exit water return unit with a reference water line comprising a housing with an inlet from an exit channel. The invention further concerns a fish exit opening, and a return water outlet, allowing water to be sucked out of the outlet and into a return channel, and wherein the exit water return unit is adapted to be partially submerged in a body of water where treated fish is confined. The water return unit may further include an inlet section water lock with a top portion upstream of a grating extending above a waterline. The top portion should be below the actual water line when the unit is in operation to prevent air from entering into the exit channel and in particular from entering into the pump. Air in the pumping system must be avoided to ensure proper operation. The housing may be formed as a bend downstream of the grating whereby a water flow flowing through the housing is deflected 180°.The housing may include a wave inducing housing bottom profile with an upward portion and an apex upstream of the grating. The wave inducing housing bottom profile lifts the fish onto grating while the water continues into the return unit, thus separating the fish and the water. The water return unit may further include a water level valve controlling a water level inside the housing. The water level valve may be a float valve with a float and a valve body connected by a pushrod. The housing may further include a dump valve at a lowermost portion. The fish exit opening may be located above the reference water line to prevent water from flowing into the confinement where the treated fish is kept. The housing may be made of stainless steel sheets and may include transition areas to ensure an unimpeded flow into and out of the housing. The exit channel inlet may include a flange allowing connection to a 400mm exit channel whereby the water return unit can be connected to a 400mm exit channel hose. The return channel return water outlet may include a flange allowing connection to a 350mm return channel whereby the water return unit can be connected to a 350mm return channel hose. The transition areas forms transitions between the circular hoses and the squarely shaped housing.Short description of the enclosed figures:Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of a fish treatment facility with an exit water return unit of the invention;Fig. 2 shows a cross-section in part of an exit water return unit of the invention; andFig. 3 is a cross-section in part of the exit water return unit shown on fig 2 in a view perpendicular to the view of fig.2, at a location through a water level valve.Detailed description of the invention with reference to the enclosed figures. Fig 1 is a schematic representation of a fish treatment facility where untreated fish 22 located in a confined first body of water 13 is pumped through an inlet channel 15, past a weighing and counting system 24 and into a treatment chamber 8. An ejector 25 connected to the pump in the pump room ensures the water flow. The salmon lice is typically flushed off, is removed chemically, is removed with warm water, with lasers or with any other suitable method, but is in the shown solution removed with low pressure jets in delouse section 26. Water from the treatment chamber /delouse section is filtered from water pumped out with a drum filter 10. The treated fish 23 then flows further through an exit channel 1, through the return unit 7 of the invention and into a confined second body of water 14. The pump room 9 in the vessel 11 provides the required water flow to pump the fish through the fish treatment facility, including providing water flow from the return unit 7 of the invention, through a return channel 17 and to the drum filter 10.Fig. 2 shows the return unit 7 of the invention partly in cross section. The exit channel 1 of the fish treatment facility provides a flow path for water, fish 23 and other matter typically entrained along with the fish 23, including sea lice. The exit channel 1 is typically a 400mm hose. A water lock 2 ensures that no air is drawn into the flow path of the fish treatment facility and thus the pump room 9. The exit channel 1 is connected to an inlet 12 of the return unit through a flange connection. Similarly, the return channel 17 is connected to an outlet 35 of the return unit 7 through a flange connection. Low pressure from the pump room in the return channel ensures that the water is circulated back to the drum filter. An upward return unit bottom profile 4 with an apex below a grating 3 creates a standing wave 20 in the water flow 21 to send the fish 23 out of the water and onto the grating 3, separating the water and the fish, allowing the fish to exit through fish exit opening 18 above the sea level to prevent water from the exit channel entering the treated fish confinement. The water flow 21 along with sea lice continues inside the return unit 7, through a water flow deflecting portion 36, deflecting the water approximately 180°. From there the water is sucked out of the outlet 35, into the return channel 17 and is led to the drum filter 10 of fig.1. An automatic dump valve 16 is closed during operation of the return unit and allows the water to drain out of the unit when the unit is lifted. The dump valve is a flapvalve with a buoyant flap sealing against a valve seat on the housing 32 of the return unit. An automatic float valve 6 (see fig.3) includes a float 27 floating on the water surface 19 to monitor the water level inside the return unit 7. The float 27 of the float valve 6 controls a port valve with a valve body 31 and a valve port 37 at the bottom of the return unit through a push rod 28, selectively opening or closing for ambient water.Fig. 3 is a section of the return unit of fig.2, in a view perpendicular to the view of fig 2, showing the grating 3 and the float valve 6 in greater detail. The valve body 31 is moved up or down by the float connected to the pushrod 28, selectively opening or blocking a port allowing ambient water into the housing 32. The reference water line 19 shows the level for normal operation. When the water level inside the housing is to low, the float 27 is at a corresponding low position, the pushrod 28 ensures that the valve body 31 is in a low position, exposing the valve port 37 allowing water into the housing 32. The water level then increases, the float 27 is lifted along with the pushrod 28 and the valve body 31, closing the valve port 37 allowing water into the housing. The grating 3 is shaped with longitudinal bars in the direction of travel of the fish to allow the fish to slide easily over the grating 3.The exit water return unit is partially submerged in the second body of water 14 (fig. 1) where the treated fish is confined.CLAIMS1.
